Ben, Travis and Will come to you with Don Williams from Maywood Christian Camp in Hamilton, Alabama to discuss the grief experience.
Don Williams joins the guys once again from Maywood Christian Camp in Hamilton, Alabama (please forgive the background noise). In their time together they discuss practical tidbits that Don has picked up in his grief education. Ben discusses the fact that we will all deal with death at some point and it will effect our loved ones. Don began ministering through Hospice which began his desire to learn more. He started teaching a grief support program in the 1980's and then got his degree from Alabama studying the death, dying and grief process. Don speaks to the difficulties with mourning due to the pandemic. One of those being the lack of closure. Ben asks Don to share some wisdom for helping people move through grief. Don speaks of Job's experience in the Old Testament. Don also discusses the differences in grief and the things that people say and do that hurt people the most during these events in our lives. Don brings up the differences between Mary and Martha during the raising of Lazarus. The temptation to be strong is difficult to overcome especially if people expect you to be that person. It is also important to work through your grief on your own timeframe not someone else's. We wrap up our time with Don talking about his service at the North Alabama's Christian Children's Home and ways to help that ministry.
